SABRE by the ASC
More Details Coming Soon.
SABRE is now delivered by the Association of Security Consultants (ASC) in partnership with the Building Research Establishment (BRE). This transition marks a new phase for the internationally recognised certification scheme, strengthening its role in assessing and validating security across the built environment.
Measure. Compare. Improve. Certify.
SABRE is owned and operated by the Association of Security Consultants (ASC), reflecting its commitment to elevating the standard of security risk management across the built environment.
Whether you are developing a new asset, managing an operational facility or seeking assurance for investors, occupiers or regulators, SABRE provides a recognised framework for evidencing security resilience and governance.
What is SABRE?
SABRE is a holistic security risk management standard for new and existing buildings and infrastructure assets. The scheme enables organisations to evaluate and certify how effectively security risks are identified, managed and mitigated.
Unlike traditional checklist-based security audits, SABRE assesses both physical and procedural security measures alongside governance, planning, incident management and operational resilience.
Why SABRE?
A Smarter Approach to Security Risk Management
SABRE recognises that effective security is not achieved through isolated products or reactive measures. Instead, it rewards organisations that adopt a structured, risk-based and security-minded approach.
Key Benefits
Independent & Credible Assurance
Certification is backed by robust evidence requirements and independent assessment, giving confidence to clients, investors, regulators and insurers.
Improved Security Performance
SABRE provides a framework to measure and improve security risk management performance across facilities and portfolios.
Better Investment Decisions
Identify priority risks, allocate security budgets more effectively and demonstrate value for money through measurable outcomes.
Competitive Advantage
Demonstrate commitment to security, resilience and stakeholder confidence through recognised third-party certification.
Flexible & Risk-Based
SABRE does not prescribe a “one-size-fits-all” solution. It allows organisations to implement security measures appropriate to their context, risk profile and operational needs.
Who is SABRE For?
SABRE is applicable across a wide range of sectors and built environments, including commercial buildings, infrastructure, healthcare, retail, hospitality, utilities and public sector assets.

Supporting BREEAM & Sustainable Development
SABRE certification contributes towards BREEAM requirements and can support additional innovation credits under BREEAM New Construction and In-Use assessments.
This allows organisations to demonstrate that security and sustainability have been considered together as part of responsible asset development and management.
