Chartered Security Professional (CSyP) is a prestigious professional recognition awarded to experienced security practitioners who demonstrate competence, integrity, and strategic impact.
The Association of Security Consultants is a licensed body responsible for administering the Register of Chartered Security Professionals on behalf of the Worshipful Company of Security Professionals (WCoSP), under Royal Charter.
What is CSyP?
Security is a high-trust profession, and consultants work at the point where risk, resilience, governance, and operational reality collide.

The Association of Security Consultants (ASC) is the UK’s leading professional body for independent security consultants, built on professional vetting, ethics, and ongoing CPD.
CSyP and the ASC membership complement each other:
- The ASC membership demonstrates professional belonging within a community of independent consultants and confirms adherence to the ASC standards and independence principles.
- CSyP registration provides an additional layer of formal recognition by validating competence through the Chartered Register.
Many practitioners who pursue CSyP also choose to maintain professional membership through organisations such as the ASC, strengthening their professional credibility and ongoing development.
CSyP Competencies
Every Chartered Security Professional is assessed against five core areas of competence:

CSyPs must show they meet the required standards across all five areas :
